The new FT5DE is a full-featured C4FM portable transceiver with advanced operability and new
sophisticated functions.
Even in a compact case (W62mm x D34mm x H100mm), the FT5DE provides reliable 5W RF output power and achieves 1W audio output, which has been optimized to offer the best
audio quality for a transceiver of this size. On the new FT5DE, Real Dual Band operations
(V+V, U+U, V+U, U+V) are possible thanks to two independent receivers. Large individual LED indicators
for Band A and Band B instantly show the status and communication modes
(C4FM or analog) of each band. The new FT5DE supports simultaneous C4FM digital (C4FM/C4FM standby).
With rubber protection on the corner of the main body, the FT5DE has a robust and
shock-resistant structure. The waterproof rating offered is IPX7. The comfortable size and shape of the
fully flat rear body offer an excellent tactile feel and ergonomics for
the operator.
A high-resolution display highlights the operating band frequency. The color of the operating band frequency
can be selected from white, blue, or red. Three (3) touchscreen panel keys and seven (7) operating keys below the display offer intuitive operation.
The new TOUCH & GO function is convenient for immediately initiating communications on a
frequently used frequency. By pressing and holding the "PMG" key, the current display frequency is
registered in the Primary Memory Group. After registration, pressing the "PMG" key will show the reception status
of registered frequencies on a histogram (making it easier to monitor activity on various frequencies). By simply
touching one of the bars, the user can instantly recall that frequency. (TOUCH & GO operation).
The Band Scope function monitors up to 79 channels displayed in real-time, centered on the current VFO frequency. The center frequency
can be tuned via the selection knob or by touching and moving the frequency of a displayed channel bar.
With the new FT5DE, C4FM digital communication features already popular on the market are available, such as: Automatic
Mode Select (AMS), Digital Group ID (DG-ID) operation, and Smart Navigation. The FT5DE also supports the WiRES-X
Portable Digital Node function. A portable digital node can be easily set up with the new FT5DE, a laptop PC connected
to the Internet, and the optional SCU-39 cable kit.
In addition, the advanced features of the new FT5DE are: Wireless hands-free operation using the optional Bluetooth®
headset (SSM-BT10); VOX function; Automatic Memory Grouping (MAG); VFO Band Skip function;
Wide-range RX coverage with continuous reception from 0.5 MHz to 999.99 MHz (Band A) and 108 MHz to 580 MHz (Band
B); Built-in 66-channel high-sensitivity GPS receiver; 1200/9600 bps APRS data modem; High-capacity 2,200 mAh Li-ion battery
(SBR-14LI) as standard; Voice recording function; Simultaneous AM/FM broadcast reception
while monitoring two frequency channels; microSD card slot.
The new quick-release holster (SHB-26) is included in the FT5DE package as a supplied accessory, allowing
the transceiver to be attached and detached with a single touch while wearing the holster on your belt.
