FT-891 HF/50MHz 100W Transceiver - All Mode
Purchased at the end of June 2025 and returned immediately after, without ever being used.
The Yaesu FT-891 is an amateur HF transceiver covering the 160 to 6 meter bands, with 100 watts. It features a general coverage triple conversion receiver tuned from 30 kHz to 56 MHz. Modes include AM, USB, LSB, and CW. The DSP technology supports QRM and noise reduction, auto notch, and APF audio peak filter. Other features include: attenuator, 4-60 WPM keyer, TCXO, CAT port, automatic power-off, full break-in, backlit LCD display, and backlit keys. This radio is easy to use. The large tuning knob (1.6") has adjustable torque. All front panel keys are logically placed for quick and easy access to frequently used controls. For example, a multi-function knob allows quick adjustment of the operating frequency in 500kHz steps. The QMB key is useful for quickly storing 5 priority memories for quick recall. Three other front panel keys can be programmed to user preferences.
The removable front panel features a large dot matrix LCD display with a fast spectrum analyzer. The TX/BUSY indicator on the front panel clearly communicates the current status of the transceiver to the operator (for example - it lights up green when receiving signals while the squelch opens and turns red for transmission). There is a USB port for PC connection (CAT control, audio interface, PTT/RTTY control).
The FT-891 comes with: MH-31A8J hand microphone, microphone clip, MMB-82 mobile mounting bracket, spare fuse, manual, safety guide, and DC power cable. It requires 13.8 VDC at 23 Amperes. 6.1 x 2 x 8.6 inches (155x52x218mm).

DETAILS:
ULTRA COMPACT DESIGN:
With dimensions of 155 x 52 x 218 mm, the FT-891 is an innovative multi-band transceiver, an ultra-compact and solidly designed transceiver for mobile or portable use.
SOLID AND RELIABLE FINAL STAGE:
The FT-891 delivers a stable power of 100W (25W AM). The high reliability of the final circuit is ensured by the careful design of the circuits and the integration of two high-efficiency thermistor-controlled fans.
YAESU'S HISTORIC RECEIVER DESIGN ENSURES EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE:
- Triple conversion receiver with a first IF frequency at 69.450 MHz (SSB/CW/AM);
- Standard 3 kHz roofing filter;
- The TCXO module ±0.5 ppm ensures very high frequency stability (-10 to +50°C)
THE IF DSP PROVIDES EFFECTIVE AND OPTIMIZED QRM REDUCTION:
The high-speed 32-bit DSP (max. 3000 MIPS) offers effective QRM reduction (DNR), which is often very annoying on HF frequencies. In addition, the AUTO NOTCH (DNF) automatically eliminates the loudest tones that interfere with reception. CONTOUR and ARF are very useful tools for reducing noise during operations on HF bands. All traditional YAESU QRM reduction functions are available on the FT-891.
100-CHANNEL MEMORY AUTOMATIC ANTENNA TUNER (OPTIONAL):
The FC-50 is an antenna tuner specifically designed for the FT-891. Connecting the FC-50 to the FT-891 is extremely simple.
FEATURES:
- Large dot matrix LCD display with Fast Spectrum Analyzer;
- Three user-programmable multi-function buttons on the front panel;
- The USB port allows connection to a PC with a single cable (CAT control, PTT/RTTY control);
- The TUN/LIN connector allows connection of the FT-891 to its FC-50 tuner or to a linear amplifier;
- Brand new electronic keyer technology (4 to 60 WPM) with FULL BK-IN operation capability;
- Supports ATAS (Active-Tuning Antenna System) antennas (ATAS-120A, ATAS-25: Option)
