In an end-fed antenna, the system needs a counterpoise to complete the electrical circuit. We highly recommend purchasing the Optional Radial Kit: this acts not just as a simple ground, but as a true extension of the active radiator. By lengthening the physical and electrical length of the antenna, the kit allows for perfect balancing of RF currents, making tuning much simpler and reception clearer, especially on the 160m and 80m bands.
