SB-2000 MK2 USB Radio Interface + Connection cable of your choice for your rig
SB-2000 Mk2: sound card and CAT interface with USB control
The SB-2000 Mk2 is an economical interface for transceivers with a USB connector (USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 full speed are supported). There is no need for a serial or parallel port on the computer. The SB-2000 contains a CAT control interface for the transceiver (incl. PTT, FSK and CW) as well as a sound card interface for digital modes such as RTTY, PSK32, SSTV, FAX, etc. (using the computer's sound card).
The new 'Mk2' version of the SB-2000 interface now supports two virtual serial ports! This is very useful as not all computer programs can support mixed functions such as PTT and CW, plus CAT on the same serial port. With the new version you have two virtual serial ports, one for PTT and CW/FSK, and another port for CAT control.
All signals are optically or transformer isolated. Power is supplied via the USB line from the computer. Included in the delivery is a CD with USB drivers for Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Win7. MacOS X and Linux are supported directly and do not require driver installation.
Dimensions 130x75x45mm.
Cable sets sold separately include all necessary cables for connections (CAT and data to radio, USB and audio to computer).
The SB-2000 Mk2 includes an RS-232 to USB level converter, which allows the radio to be used with an RS-232 interface (FT-1000, FT-2000, FT-450, FT-950, etc.). The radio connection is made with a multi-cable that also includes the CW signal. The CAT interface works up to a max. speed of 19200 Baud.
Note on using the SB-2000 with the Icom IC-7000:
The ACC-103 cable has an internal bridge between the keying lines for FSK and CW. This allows keying with only one signal line of the RTS, and works very well with the IC-706, IC-7200, etc. But with the IC-7000 a high current occurs on these lines. The effect is that the fan starts immediately after connecting the cable. In rare cases the IC-7000 could be damaged.
Quick solution: do not connect the CW connector from the SB-2000 to the IC-7000. This renders the interface unusable for telegraphy. Other modes, such as PSK31, RTTY etc. are not affected.
Note: Some radios that support HF and VHF (for example, IC-746, IC-7400) have separate PTT lines for HF (HSEND) and VHF (VSEND). The SB-2000 interfaces only have the HSEND line, so without modifications it is only usable in HF. To use the interface also in VHF / UHF, it is necessary to modify the radio connector or interface to connect the HSEND and VSEND lines simultaneously (bridge between HSEND and VSEND). Radios like the IC-706Mk2G and IC-7000 need to have a menu item set, so that HSEND also keys the Tx in VHF and UHF.

Feature
- Connect your computer with USB port. No need serial or parallel port
Most of Radio programs are built based on COM serial port of PC computer.
But the most latest PC computers don?t have a serial port.
- USB to UART bridge by FT232 single chip. USB 2.0 compliant. Full speed.
To be compatible with the legacy radio program, we still have to keep using serial port. That's why we choose to use USB to UART bridge which converts the USB to serial port. FT232R is very reliable industry single-chip USB to UART bridge.
- CAT, CI/V controller and audio transformer are combined together.
No sophisticate software setting. Very clearly operate from reachable setting on the control panel. It supports CAT with RS232 protocol. So it's compatible with the most latest transceivers.
- Complete isolation between computer and radio station.
- Optical isolation used for digital signal.
- Audio signal isolated 1:1 transformer. It has internal static isolation. Excellent EMC(Electromagnetic compatibility)
- Operated by computer USB power. No need extra power.
When you are in your expedition or mobile, you will not have extra power headache with SB-2000. It uses the power from your computer's USB port.
- Very compact size, easy to carry.
Weight less than 400 grams. Pocket size only.
- Supply with full accessories.
It comes with USB, CAT or CI/V, Data and audio cables.
