Setting the Standard for VHF Baluns
* A true 4:1 current balun
* Cross-coupled dual-core design.
* Good output balance.
* Special high-frequency ferrites for 6m and 2m
* Teflon components.
* Wide bandwidth with carefully controlled reactance characteristics.
* The same first-class construction as all "B" series HF baluns. Built to last for years.
* The original VHF 4:1 Current Balun, using the same technology as the incredible B4-2KX precision HF balun.
At VHF frequencies, it is difficult to build a 4:1 balun that tolerates realistic operating environments where mismatched loads are common. Unless a balun is very carefully designed, poor output balance and core saturation can be expected. New problems arise at VHF frequencies. Transmission lines must be very short in terms of wavelength, special ferrites must be used, and they must be effective over a very wide frequency range. Every construction detail must be carefully specified if each balun is to perform as specified. We have met and exceeded all expectations again with the B4-1KXV. At this time, I know of no other 4:1 VHF current balun on the market, and certainly none with the credentials of the B4-1KX.
The B4-1KXV VHF type balun is suitable for all applications requiring a precision 4:1 balun. It can be used with some types of OCF, folded dipoles, folded monopoles, or any application requiring an unbalanced to balanced transformation from 50 to 200 ohms.
