The Heil Sound Pro Set is available in two models: Pro Set 6 and Pro Set iC. Both are soft and versatile microphone/headsets designed for comfort, durability, and, most importantly, performance.
The ear cups are full-sized, with heavily padded cushions for operator comfort during long periods of operation. The ear cup covers are removable for washing, and replacement capsules are also available. In addition to passively isolating noise, the Pro Set now includes Heil Sound's exclusive phase reversal technology, which allows the user to "move" the incoming signal by flipping the phase reversal switch; this creates a unique spatial widening sound that, in some situations, can greatly improve listening in pileups.
The Pro Set series speakers are 200 Ohm nominal devices, with a -3 dB drop at 8000 Hz. This combination greatly reduces the hiss found in the receiver's audio stages. These speakers have average sensitivity but are easily driven by most RTX units.
The Pro Set iC (PS iC) uses Heil Sound's specially designed "iC" condenser element for compatibility with the low gain found on many Icom transceiver microphone amplifier stages. The -3dB points are fixed at 80 Hz and 12.5 kHz. The iC element requires a +5 volt DC phantom power, which all iCOM systems provide. The PS iC also comes with the iC AD-1 adapter cable.
The Pro Set 6 uses the HC-6 element instead. Designed for commercial broadcast applications, the -3dB points are fixed at 100 Hz and 12 kHz with a sensitivity of -57 dB at 600 ohm output impedance (centered at 1 kHz.) The Pro Set 6 requires an optional adapter cable to connect the ProSet to the transceiver's jack microphone input.
