The New High-Class Generation

With the FLEX-8000 series (comprising models 8400, 8600, 8400M, and 8600M), FlexRadio establishes the new generation of high-class SDR transceivers. The FLEX-8600 offers the latest direct-sampling SDR technology for the general HF/6m operator, with new performance for DX hunting and contests.

It is based on the architecture of the successful FLEX-6000 but features a CPU with approximately four times higher performance and an FPGA with double the performance. This increase in performance not only ensures shorter startup and loading times but, more importantly, provides a solid foundation for the implementation of numerous future features that cannot be achieved with the resources of the FLEX-6000 series.

One of the first of these innovations is "Adaptive Pre-Distortion" (APD), which, according to the manufacturer, offers the cleanest signal on an amateur radio platform. All FLEX-8000 models also come standard with integrated GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) functionality and a future integrated NTP time server. This ensures that all FLEX-8000 transceivers always remain on the exact same frequency. But even without a direct view of the sky, the FLEX-8400 can continue to use the internal TCXO.

Top-Tier Performance

The receivers are designed as direct-scanning SDR receivers. A sampling frequency of 122.8 MHz is used; the AD converter has a word width of 16 bits. The result is an exceptional RMDR value of 115 dB (with a 2 kHz spacing). As a visible result of this high-level digital technology, the user has access to a spectrum width of up to 7 MHz, more than enough to simultaneously observe several amateur radio bands and orient their activities accordingly.

The receiver frequency range extends from 30 kHz to 54 MHz, while the transmitter is limited to amateur radio bands. The preselector with 3-pole bandpass filters ensures excellent immunity to large signals. With a PC, laptop, or Mac client, you can use up to four 7 MHz spectrum/waterfall displays and independent receivers to revolutionize your view of the bands. Its four receivers can be simultaneously positioned on any band and mode with instant QSY between VFOs.
