Multifunction Dual Band Digital Transceiver Worldwide Communication Through the D-STAR Network
The ID-52E is a VHF/UHF dual band radio with D-STAR and FM dual mode functions.
The ID-52E supports conventional FM communications and D-STAR simplex, repeater, regional and international calls via the D-STAR Internet gateway. With the ID-52E, you can call a friend in another city, or even internationally via D-STAR repeaters, with clear digital audio. In addition, the ID-52E can send digital voice with data, text messages, GPS location information and images.
Image Sharing Functions
Share images with other users and view received images on the color display. Photos taken on an Android ™ device can be wirelessly transferred to the ID-52E via Bluetooth®.
DR (D-STAR Repeater) Function
The extended DR (D-STAR Repeater) function makes D-STAR and FM repeater communication easier to use. In conjunction with the GPS function, you can select an available local repeater by pressing a couple of buttons, based on your location. In addition, DR mode supports reflector linking controls.
Terminal Mode and Access Point Mode *
Connect the ID-52E to the Internet via a Windows® PC or an Android ™ device. The Internet gateway (using Terminal Mode and Access Point Mode) allows you to access the D-STAR repeater network, even from areas where no D-STAR repeater is directly accessible via radio.

Terminal and Access Point modes are compatible with Icom RS-RP3 gateway software. If your D-STAR repeater runs G1 or G2 software, please contact your local Icom dealer to update the software. · An internet connection with an IPv4 global IP address is required. If you use a cellular system, an IPv4 global IP address assigned to the Android ™ device is required. · The optional RS-MS3W software must be installed on the PC (download from the Icom website). The optional RS-MS3A application software must be installed on the Android ™ device (Download from Google Play ™). USB cable is required. Type A: provided by the user. Advanced Features and Color Display
Large 2.3" color display Black background The ID-52E features a 2.3-inch (320 × 280 pixel) color display that provides excellent visibility. The display background color is selectable between white and black.
Bluetooth® Enabled Features
VS-3 Bluetooth® Headset The optional VS-3 Bluetooth® headset enables wireless hands-free operation. In addition to PTT and volume up/down buttons, the VS-3 has three programmable buttons that can be assigned functions to improve operation.
You can connect to an Android ™ device via Bluetooth®. With the Android ™ device along with the installed RS-MS1A remote control software, you can wirelessly control the ID-52E to change operating frequencies and other settings.
V/V, U/U, V/U including DV/DV mode
The Dualwatch function simultaneously checks VHF/VHF, UHF/UHF, and VHF/UHF* bands. You can quickly answer a call from the main and sub bands.
You can decode two DV signals simultaneously.
AM/AM Dualwatch mode is not possible. AM signals can only be received on the main VFO (Band A).
VHF/UHF Airband and FM Broadcast Receiver
Broadcast Receiver Airband reception is expanded from VHF military airband to UHF airband (225 to 374.995 MHz). FM radio stations can be listened to while using the dualwatch function.
Built-in GPS/GLONASS Receiver
GPS location with grid locator D-PRS mode is supported by the internal GPS receiver to send your location and show the location of the received station, distance, and direction from your current location. In addition to your location, the ID-52E shows your current grid square information. GPS location data can be used for auto reply location, near repeater search, and GPS log functions.
microSD card slot
You can store QSO recordings, TX voice memory, images, QSO and GPS log data. Firmware updates, repeater lists, and other personal settings on a microSD card (up to 32 GB). This can then be loaded into the ID-52E radio.
Micro USB connector The ID-52
E features a multi-function USB port and a USB host function, for charging Icom battery packs, PC programming, reading/writing content to the microSD card, terminal/access point mode support, and CI-V control and audio.
