The ID-50E is a dual-band VHF/UHF radio that can operate in D-STAR and analog FM modes. It can simultaneously receive V/V, U/U, and V/U, FM broadcast radio stations from 76 to 108 MHz, the aeronautical band from 108 to 174 MHz with 8.33 kHz spacing, and from 375 to 479 MHz. The extended DR (D-STAR Repeater) function simplifies communications on the D-STAR (Digital Smart Technologies for Amateur Radio) network. In combination with the integrated GPS, the locally available repeater can be easily selected based on your position.

The Dualwatch function allows simultaneous monitoring of VHF/VHF, UHF/UHF, and VHF/UHF bands, and quickly responding to a call from both the main and sub bands. The only exception is DV/DV mode, which cannot be listened to simultaneously.
