Heil Sound PRAS-EQ - Heil Sound PRAS-EQ Parametric Receive Audio System Equalizer
Heil Sound PRAS-EQ Parametric Receive Audio System EqualizerThe Heil Sound PRAS-EQ Parametric Receive Audio System Equalizer is a state-of-the-art audio system that enhances the sound of amateur radio, shortwave, commercial, and CB receivers. The PRAS-EQ allows radio operators to modify, shape, and improve the audio output of their receivers using three separate equalization controls. Mid-range frequencies are the most critical for clear voice articulation in received audio, especially for those with hearing impairment. The PRAS-EQ gives operators unique control over these important frequencies. First, operators can adjust the parametric mid-range filter from 400 Hz to 4 kHz, with the recommended sweet spot at 2.5 kHz. Additionally, operators can control the presence of these mid-range frequencies plus or minus 15 dB. Combined with a low-frequency filter down to 160 Hz and a high-frequency filter up to 6 kHz, the parametric receive system offers operators unprecedented control and quality of receive audio. The PRAS-EQ has three audio inputs; a standard XLR input, an 1/8-inch (3.5 mm) input, and an 8-ohm 1/4-inch mono input that can accept the 8-ohm external speaker output of any radio. The three audio outputs of the PRAS-EQ are a balanced XLR and a 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) output on the rear panel, and a 1/8 inch (3.5 mm) output on the front panel for audio recording. The PRAS also has two built-in headphone amplifiers with separate level controls and two 1/8 inch headphone outputs. The PRAS Parametric Receive Audio System is designed to be used with the specially designed Heil HPS-5 amplified speaker, now sold separately. The line-level output of the PRAS-EQ unit can be used with any amplified speaker.
