Heil Sound HPS-5 Amplified External Speaker
The Heil Powered Speaker (HPS-5) is a two-way amplified speaker designed for use with the Heil Parametric Receive Audio System Equalizer (PRAS EQ).
The HPS-5 in combination with the PRAS EQ provides unparalleled speech articulation and offers new dimensions for receiving audio quality in amateur radio operations. The end result is a fantastic listening experience that helps extract difficult signals and alleviates ear fatigue for operators.
The HPS-5 features a highly efficient, low-distortion 24-watt Class A amplifier that drives a specially designed 5" low-frequency speaker mounted in a resonant sealed enclosure. A passive extended crossover drives a 2" high-frequency tweeter.
The HPS-5 has two audio inputs on the rear panel: a 600-ohm balanced XLR input and an unbalanced 1/8” input. Both inputs are regulated by a single level control.
There is also a 600-ohm balanced XLR output for daisy-chaining two or more HPS-5 powered speakers. This product is transitioning to new packaging and content.
New HPS-5 units now come with a 2.5mm power pole adapter cable compatible with common 12-volt, 2-amp DC power supplies. New HPS-5 units no longer come with a 12-volt power supply.
