MegaDipole 300DX is a broadband active dipole with a maximum upper operating frequency of 300 MHz. The dipole reacts to the electrical component (E-Field) of the electromagnetic field and will provide the best results in terms of signal strength and SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) in locations with little or no locally generated interference. However, the receiver to be coupled to this antenna should have a sufficiently high dynamic range to effectively process the received signals.
In contrast to simple E-field antennas with only one radiating element, the symmetrical construction of MegaDipole 300DX will result in almost no resonance effect or negative reflection caused by the coaxial cable. It is a first-choice antenna for DXers.
Particularly in electrically quiet environments, it can truly play to its strength by efficiently amplifying weak signals. In practical operations, a maximum signal/noise ratio of 110 dB has been achieved! MegaDipol MD300DX is ideal for broadband receivers, SDRs, and WEB-SDRs like KiwiSDR, etc. The MegaDipol MD300DX can also be used on all other receivers, including low-end SDRs and handheld portable receivers.
The MegaDipol comes standard with 10 - 15 V DC (max 40 mA), however, it can be used with a wide range of supply voltages. The antenna can even operate with slightly reduced IP values with the same gain with only 5 volts via USB. This offers a significant advantage as it allows you to power the MegaDipol on the go, away from the radio shack or autonomous DX expeditions, using a low-noise USB power bank.
"The MegaDipol has already attracted a lot of attention with its reception performance at various events such as DX-Camp, field days, and internal exhibitions. In these tests, the MD300DX outperformed existing antennas, usually by 10-15 dB in SNR."
