We are excited to introduce the latest updates to our Software-Defined Radio (SDR) receiver, Fobos SDR, designed to enhance your radio communication experience.
We have empowered our Fobos SDR Software-Defined Radio (SDR) receiver with new features and improvements. Here are the updates:
- 8-line GPO port (general-purpose output, software-controlled digital outputs) added to control external equipment.
- Improved frequency response of the passband.
- Added electrostatic discharge protection of the antenna inputs.
- The influence of parasitic interference is minimized, and noise resistance is improved.
- Low-pass filters for HF1 and HF2 inputs designed with a cutoff frequency of 24 MHz.
- Improved stability of the USB data link.
The main features of our NEW Fobos SDR that we are proud of:
- Wide main frequency range: continuous coverage from 25 MHz to 6 GHz.
- Two coherent direct sampling auxiliary channels: coverage from 100 kHz to 25 MHz, suitable for diversity reception, correlation, and phase-difference directionality.
- Overall frequency coverage from 100 kHz to 6 GHz.
- 50 MHz sampling bandwidth: 50 M samples per second IQ sampling rate or 2×25 M samples per second direct sampling rate.
- High-quality signal conversion: dual-heterodyne analog-to-digital (ADC) conversion and 14-bit sample depth.
- Continuous data stream: digitized data without lost buffers, uninterrupted recording and real-time analysis.
- All features simultaneously, no “either-or”: 50 MHz rate, 14-bit ADC, and continuous data stream within a continuous frequency coverage.
The compact aluminum housing with EMI shielding further enhances its durability, making it ideal for various harsh environments.
Equipped with a USB 3.0 data link, the Fobos SDR ensures easy device connectivity and rapid data transfer. The robust and resilient USB 3.0 Type B plug provides sufficient power and ensures extra switching durability.
This further enhances its durability, making it ideal for various harsh environments.
We provide software support for Fobos SDR, including lightweight open-source API library, compatibility libraries and wrappers for SDRSharp plugin, SoapySDR, GNURadio, SDR++, HDSDR ExtIO, application software examples for C, C++, C#, Pascal (Delphi). Windows and Linux OS supported. All source codes are available on our GitHub page and provided under LGPL-2.1 license. This is the best quick start kit for further software developments, education, and evaluation.
For quick and user-friendly start we provide portable software distributions of SDRSharp, SDR++ and HDSDR with Fobos SDR support configured and ready-to-run. Early releases can be downloaded from our server right now. Full native API support is implemented in µSDR v.1.7.1 and later versions, which is preferable to use with Fobos SDR. The latest version is available on the product web page.

Phobos SDR is a truly valuable new toy for radio communications developers, scientists, enthusiasts, hackers, hobbyists, and professionals.
