- Ease of use. The "True Resistance Indicator" (TRI) plate circuit load value indicator is an ACOM innovation that allows for fast and accurate tuning, typically in less than 10 seconds. The auto-reset function automatically returns the amplifier to "OPERATE" mode after any of the protections are triggered, saving the operator time and avoiding manual reset operations.
- No external antenna tuner is required as long as the antenna has a VSWR equal to or less than 3:1. The amplifier performs the functions of an antenna tuner, allowing for quick antenna changes and the use of a wide range of frequencies. This amplifier is both user-friendly and self-monitoring. It has been designed to withstand up to 240 W of reflected power without damage, up to 100 milliseconds of overdriving ("RF tails" after PTT or KEY release), and even operator tuning errors. It is capable of operating at more than half of its rated output power with only 75% of the nominal mains voltage. Since it can tolerate voltage drops (down to zero for 10 milliseconds) and 15% mains overvoltages, it is particularly suitable for portable use powered by generators, especially for field days and DXpeditions.
- The upper LED bar always detects peak incident power, while the lower one is for reading reflected power. LED indicators warn of abnormal operating conditions for grid 1, grid 2, and plate parameters.
- Two antenna outputs are selectable from the amplifier's front panel.
- Antenna tuning can be achieved in less than 10 seconds and at a quarter of the rated output power, reducing the risk of interference with other stations and the safety risks for the amplifier components themselves. The amplifier does not require any special interface to operate with the transceiver; it only needs a "ground on TX" signal and 60 W RF input power to deliver full output power.
- The broadband input matching circuit provides an excellent load characteristic for the driving transceiver, from 1.8MHz to 30MHz.
- A single Svetlana 4CX800A tube (GU74B), a high-performance ceramic-metal tetrode with a plate dissipation of 600W (forced air cooling, grid driven), is used to achieve maximum efficiency. The Acom 1010 offers continuous monitoring and protection for plate and grid currents. The bias optimization circuit minimizes heat dissipation in the tube, ensuring a long operating life. The design criteria used for the high-voltage power supply stage ensure the elimination of dangerous turn-on transients, avoiding repercussions on other devices powered by the mains. In addition, the amplifier can be configured for any of 8 possible mains voltages, between 100 and 240 V, 50 or 60 Hz. The amplifier can be supplied with the 10 and 12 meter bands disabled, as required by the FCC for US users. Contact your dealer to enable those bands.
