Usage
ACOM 1003 is a self-contained, complete linear amplifier covering all amateur bands from 1.8 MHz to 54 MHz. It delivers 1000 W PEP or 900 W continuous carrier output power, with less than 80 W of input power.
Easy to use.
Antenna tuning is made simple by the True Resistance Indicator (TRI), a bar graph for accurate setting of the real part of the plate load impedance. A front panel push-button controlled input attenuator allows easy reduction of drive power during tuning and subsequent restoration, without the need for transceiver readjustments. Peak power bar graph, operating parameters and text messages are displayed during operation on a two-line OLED display. RX/TX switching is fast and CW QSK compatible, using a silent HF reed relay.
No external antenna tuner needed.
No external antenna tuner (ATU) is required for an antenna SWR of up to 3. An SWR of up to 3 is allowed with a direct output of 1000W to the antenna.

OLED display for comments
Two-line OLED display with bar graph of forward output power with peak reading and 18 operator-selectable amplifier parameters on display.
Three antenna outputs
Three antenna outputs are selectable via a push-button on the front panel.
Lower noise in the
shack's HF antenna reed relay for virtually silent, QSK compatible CW operation.
Transceiver independent
The amplifier works without special signals from the transceiver: "Ground on TX" (PTT) and an RF drive power of 50-80W are sufficient.
Single Tube Operation
Uses a single 3CX800A7 ceramic/metal power triode in a grounded-grid configuration, cathode-driven.
Tube Protection
Continuous monitoring of amplifier parameters and tube protection.
Output RF Arc Protection
Original ACOM output or antenna HF arc protection.
Power Supply
Single-phase mains power, 90-132 / 180-264 VAC at 50-60 Hz, power consumption at rated power: up to 2000 VA at 240 VAC.
Easy Maintenance
Non-volatile memory with SIGNATURE records of the 8 most recent severe fault protection events (Hard Fault).

- 1000 W PEP or 900 W continuous carrier, without limitation of operating mode;
- For continuous transmission modes (RTTY etc.) for transmissions longer than 5 minutes, the external auxiliary fan must be mounted;
Intermodulation distortion at rated power
- Better than 34 dB IMD 3 relative to either tone (40 dB below PEP);
Hum and Noise
- AM depth not exceeding 4.5% (-27 dB) at rated power;
Suppression of output harmonic emissions
- 1.8-29.7 MHz - better than 50 dB below rated power;
- 50-54 MHz - better than 70 dB below rated power;
Input and output impedances
- Nominal impedance: 50 O unbalanced, with UHF / PTFE coaxial connectors (SO-239A);
- Input circuit: low-pass filters factory tuned for best linearity and input SWR not exceeding 1.3 in each amateur band from 160m to 6m;
- Bypass path SWR: not more than 1.1 continuously from 1.8 to 54 MHz;

Minimum output impedance matching range: all loads with SWR up to 3* at any phase angle;
(*) Driving power must be reduced with SWR greater than 3 to keep reflected power below 250 W.
